Ah!!! A new #broom. In all honesty, I had very different plans for this one, and it just didn't turn out the way I wanted - so I adjusted. Such is the life of an #artist and #artpreneur. She was supposed to be round and curvaceous, but that wasn't panning out (I get it now why) so I fashioned my clamp around the broomcorn and flattened it into a true sweeper.

My medium son has been DYING to use one of my brooms functionally so I told him he could clean up my broomcorn mess (haha! mom move) using the new sweeper and he says "Why have you been holding out on me with these brooms?!? I've never had something clean the floor this well!" He's the one whose chore is taking care of keeping all of our hardwood floors clean - so his opinion is weighty. 😂 I suggest real brooms. And if they can be pretty like these, get that instead!

(and yes, I'll be putting these up for sale eventually, unused - don't worry. lol!)

Technically, this is called a "Hawk's Tail" whisk.
Mine, however, is called a Grackle Whisk. 🥰
I have these wonderful Common Grackles that hang out in my back yard daily and while they look like small crows, when you catch them in just the right light their heads illuminate this brilliant iridescent indigo blue.
So, a whisk tribute to my plague of grackles.

Yes... a group of grackles is called a plague.
The only plague I like :)

Talk about #mood! This #roostertailwhisk gave me a RUN. I turned into quite the crabby pants over getting this right. And it's far from what I had in my mind's eye, but it was my first and this is not a simple hand maneuvering style. I felt like I had sausages for fingers. 😅 And for the next one I learned much to help me along. But still, she's lovely.

But that #diamondwillow!!! I might be done with this soon... except I just ordered a bunch more broomcorn and a fancy and official #broomcornknife! I can't wait for it. I'm gonna feel like one of the big kids making brooms :) I have quite a number of broom and besom makers that I simply get lost in. They are my muses and their generous sharing has helped me with the clues and knowledge to take on this bucket list creative endeavor. I am so grateful for the artist and crafter and artisan community here! If there is someone that just sparked your creativity or became the reason you got started, would you shout them out below?
